Heaven scent

It’s been six years since famous European lingerie line Agent Provocateur launched their eponymous signature scent. The intensely feminine fragrance proved a welcome respite from the unisex perfumes that had dominated the market in the late ’90s, and it became an instant classic. Their eagerly anticipated second scent, Maîtresse, was released last autumn

Agent Provocateur An exotic floral chypre, heady with rose oil, vetiver, jasmine, magnolia, amber and musk. Warm with spice, this scent is ideal for evening, especially in cooler weather. Eau de parfum 50ml, €62

Eau Emotionelle Known as Agent Provocateur’s ‘charming younger sister’, Eau Emotionelle has been made lighter, with cape snow blush and pink pepper, and is less overtly sexy than the original, making it perfect for the office. 50ml, €56.

Maîtresse White lotus, white ylang ylang, velvet white suede and musk make Maîtresse Agent Provocateur’s most seductive scent yet. Just the thing for a hot date. Eau de parfum 50ml, €65. agentprovocateur.com

Four of the best: moisturisers

Despite the fact that the death of the metrosexual man has passed by largely unmourned, his tenure did leave behind one important belief: real men moisturise. Loaded with macho ingredients like caffeine, chestnut extract and soy these four fatigue fighting gels certainly aren’t for wimps…

1 Kiehl’s Facial Fuel An excellent all-rounder packed with vitamins C and E to stave off the effects of environmental damage, and chestnut to revitalise stressed complexions. €30. kiehls.com

2 Nickel Morning After Rescue Gel With wheat and soy bean proteins to add radiance, witch hazel to decongest and menthol to kick start cells’ renewal process, this is a must for tired skin. €32. nickel.fr

3 Clinique Maximum Hydrator Ideal for dry skin, this emollient moisturiser minimises the look of fine lines and boosts cells’ ability to retain moisture. €32. clinique.com

4 Clarins Fatigue Fighter Best after a heavy week at work; fortified with bison grass to energise skin, wintergreen extract to slough away dead cells and Chinese ginger to soothe redness. €38.50. clarins.com

Massage a deux

Love is in the air this month, and what better way to mark the most romantic day of the year than by indulging in a couple’s spa treatment? The concept of couple’s treatments has made its way here from Los Angeles and has become increasingly popular in the past few years. If you’re in Mallorca, try the Soul Mates Treatment at the Son Antem Marriot Spa. Couples are treated to an aromatherapy massage followed by a specially tailored facial. Of course Valentine’s Day wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without flowers – the treatment finishes with a floral bath infused with a healing blend of oils. Soul Mates Treatment: €270 per couple. marriott.com

Exercise of the month
Gyrotonic

Ignore the Gyrotonic’s slightly scary appearance and concentrate on the fact that it promises to increase strength and flexibility – sculpted celebrities like Madonna and Bjork are fans. The machine was invented by Hungarian ballet dancer Juliu Horvath. Having become a yoga instructor, Horvath developed it to help him perfect difficult postures, and despite the fact that it’s now available in more that 1,200 studios throughout the world, he still builds every one from his studio in New York. According to Horvath, traditional exercise equipment works against the body’s natural motions, placing strain on the joints and increasing the risk of injury and loss of coordination. The gyrotonic machine is designed to work with the body’s movement, meaning that muscles can be stretched and strengthened with the minimum effort. And having cherry picked principles from yoga, ballet, swimming, gymnastics and Tai Chi, it offers an impressive range of benefits, from better balance and increased stamina to improved circulation. www.gyrotonic.com
