In August the sleepy village of Buñol near Valencia sees red as over 20,000 visitors take part in the world’s biggest food fight. The annual Tomatina festival began in 1945 when a gang of local lads pelted a parade with tomatoes. Now the event has grown to become one of Spain’s biggest tourist attractions.
