Diamonds are a girl’s best friend

For simple elegance this autumn, MeeVIDA is a must.

The new brand name for Dianish Jewels – a favourite with Europeans in the know since its establishment in Antwerp in 1989 – offers a stunning range of luxury fine-diamond jewellery. Phonetically translating as ‘my life’ in Spanish, the collection prides itself on transposing the essence of eternity into each design, making MeeVIDA diamonds the perfect gift for that special someone. With a new store in Warsaw set to widen its European appeal, husbands take note.

WATCH THIS FACE

Daisy Lowe is tipped to be fashion’s face of the future.

The daughter of singer-turned-fashion-designer Pearl Lowe and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale (now married to Gwen Stefani) may have narrowly missed out on replacing Kate Moss as the face of lingerie brand Agent Provocateur, but having already struck a pose for big-name photographers Mario Testino and Steven Klein, there’s little doubt that she’s headed for very big things indeed.

TRASH-FASH EXHIBITION

In the lead-up to London Fashion Week (15-20 September), the capital’s West End is set to go green. In a unique exhibition, key flagship stores will show their support for the environment by turning their trash to fash(ion).

From coat-hanger jewellery to bubble-wrap bodices, gift-box hats and paper-bag skirts, mannequins in stores across the city will be dressed by top stylists in an eye-catching array of designs made from the store’s recycled materials. The exhibition, organised by New West End Company, hopes to alert London’s global shoppers to the benefits of recycling, and will be spread over three world-renowned shopping streets – Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street – from 9 September.

Hearts of glass

With Marilyn Manson’s latest song dedicated to new beau Evan Rachel Wood declaring, “Don’t break my heart or I’ll break your heart-shaped glasses,” it appears there’s a penchant for all things romance-shaped this autumn.

Now iconic 1960s brand Biba has introduced its own range of heart-shaped eyewear, from €200. The limited-edition nine-piece collection is available in a palette of tortoiseshells, jet blacks, ivory, marbles and gold, combining cutting-edge couture with affordability.

For baby-doll eyes this autumn, follow your heart.

SWEDE IN THE LEAD

Lovisa Burfitt is one of a new generation of Swedish designers pioneering a fresh direction for fashion. Believing yesterday’s fashions are tomorrow’s toxins, she works hard to source fair-trade materials and create a collection that’s both green and glam. Her ethical yet elegantly understated designs have attracted the attention of stars including Kirsten Dunst, Scarlett Johansson and Sienna Miller. The success of Burfitt’s range – which began with screen-printed T-shirts sold in limited collections in her native Stockholm and now includes dresses, skinny vests and edgy high-waist trousers and skirts available in boutiques across the world – is proof of the increasing demand for ethical clothing. “Eco-fashions cost the consumer a little bit more,” says Burfitt. “But in Sweden, we’re willing to pay more if it can help save the planet.” The Swedes are leading the way.
