Aston Martin launches the race-inspired Vantage N420
Drawing inspiration from Aston Martin race cars that have successfully competed at the infamous Nürburgring 24-hour race, the Vantage has been styled to look aggressive, supremely sporty and purposeful. New external features include wider sills, bold 10-spoke diamond-turned gloss black alloys, black mesh vents, Graphitic tailpipe finishers and a range of Race Collection paintwork. The racing theme continues inside, with special N420 sill plaques and lightweight carbon fibre seats with Race Track stitching.
The N420 is based on the 4.7-litre, 420bhp, 290km/h V8 Vantage, but it’s 2.7kg lighter and fitted with the Sports Pack as standard. This combines revised springs, dampers and anti-roll bars for even more responsive handling, plus a new sports exhaust system to deliver that unmistakable Aston Martin growl. From €100,000.
Motor painted by Damien Hirst sold for €425,000
The star of Sir Elton John’s White Tie & Tiara Ball proved to be a car this year – an Audi A1 to be exact, which had been spin-painted by Britain’s foremost contemporary artist, Damien Hirst. The painter took the just-launched hatchback and turned it into a vibrant and dramatic work of art. The car was bought for a whopping €425,000 at the ball’s charity auction, attended by a veritable galaxy of A-List celebrities from around the world who came to Elton’s home in Windsor, UK, to support the largest annual fundraiser for his AIDS Foundation.
