Ruzyne International Airport
Bus: The number 119 bus runs between the airport and the Dejvicka metro station (which is on the A line) every 7 to 20 minutes. Tickets cost €1/CZK 28 and are valid for 60 minutes on weekdays and 90 minutes on weekends. They can be used on all buses, trams and metros.
Taxi: A taxi ride to the city centre from the airport will take about 30 minutes and cost approximately €25/ CZK 704, but always negotiate the price before you set off.

The perfect base from which to explore the city, the old town seems to cast a spell on everyone who visits.
Sleep soundly – Staying in the centre doesn’t have to cost much. Book a private room at the Old Prague Hostel. If you’ve got a bit more money to spend, head over to Prague Golden Age Hotel (18 Havelska, tel. , praguegoldenage.com, rooms from €96/CZK 2,304).
Culture vultures – Check out Jan Saudek’s photographs at his gallery near Old Town Square (9 Celetna).
Must eat – Go Tex-Mex at Tequila Sunrise (6 Stupartska, tel. ) or grab a sandwich at Mansson (8 Bikova, tel. ).
Must drink – Tretter’s Bar (3 V Kolkovni) is one of the city’s best cocktail joints. Go for a Zido – Cachaca, coconut syrup, lime and papaya juice.
Dance the night away – The live music at Chateau Rouge (2 Jakubska) always pulls in a big crowd.
Shop til you drop – Pick up shoes, clothes and accessories at department store Kotva (8 Namesti Republiky).
Take an afternoon to discover all the hidden delights scattered throughout this trend-setting neighborhood.
Sleep soundly – Drop your bags off at Pension 44 which has bright, light rooms and modern décor.
Must eat – Greek lovers will want to sample Taverna Olympos (9 Kubelikova, tel. ), while chocolate devotees must hit Passion Chocolat (5 Italska, tel. ).
Must drink – Hajnovka (21 Italska) draws a mostly local crowd.
Dance the night away – Head to Retro Music Hall (4 Francouzska) for house, trance, drum and bass or R&B, depending on the night.
Prague’s little quarter, right below the castle grounds, is an eclectic mix of fine restaurants, good shopping and live music venues.
Sleep soundly – Uncover a slice of Italy at the affable Hotel Veronsky dum or settle in at The Golden Wheel (28 Nerudova, tel. , thegoldenwheel.com, rooms from €210/CZK 5,040).
Culture vultures – Most first editions of renowned Czech writer Franz Kafka’s works can be viewed at the Franz Kafka Museum (2b Cihelna).
Must eat – Luka Lu (33 Ujezd, tel. ) with its pretty courtyard is a gem and caters for both carnivores and vegetarians. The cook’s homemade bread is a must.
Must drink – One of the oldest pubs in the city, Tavern U krale Brabantskeho (15 Thunovska) is definitely worth a stop.
Dance the night away – Catch some of the city’s best jazz artists at U Maleho Glena (23 Karmelitska).
Shop til you drop – Ul. Luzickeho seminare is a shopper’s paradise. Pick up hand-made jewellery at Silver & Art (42 Ul. Luzickeho seminare) or browse new and used books at Shakespeare and Sons (10 Ul. Luzickeho seminare).
This up-and-coming district has been totally transformed over recent years.
Sleep soundly – The Jestico and Whiles-designed Hotel Ande has slick, modern rooms
Must eat – Get your fill of goulash and dumplings at Grotta (7 Ostrovskeho, tel. ) or try the seafood at La Cambusa (2 Klicperova, tel. ) – go for the salmon carpaccio followed by the gratin of oysters.
Must drink – Plzensky restaurant Andel (114 Nadrazni) is one of the sleekest new bars.
Shop til you drop – Find just about everything you could possibly need at Andel-Novy Smichov (8 Plzenska).
