From tartan to lace and orange to black, we have the lowdown on this season’s trends and where to buy them
In the 1990s, pointy-toed shoes were seen on every street in every city in Europe, but over the past few years, fashion has turned to a rounder toe. This autumn, the point is back at Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton (above) and Lanvin. LK Bennett offers a great range.
Go shop LK Bennett, 83 Park Street, Bristol, UK, tel. www.lkbennett.com
Feminine blouses are still very much on trend for autumn. From chiffon floaty pieces to prim fitted tops with bows at the neck, the look is sexy secretary. Jaeger’s hip, young diffusion line Jaeger London has a great selection to chose from.

Where Miuccia Prada leads, the fashion industry tends to follow, so expect lace to be the fabric for autumn/winter 2008. Much of her collection is themed around lace, with Prada describing it as: “The most important fabric in a woman’s life, with her at her birth, marriage, death and many milestones in between.”
Go shop Prada, 2 Petrovska Street, Moscow, Russia. tel. www.prada.com
trousers Moving away from skinny jeans, the new shape for autumn/winter is smarter, with floor-skimming slouchy trousers in style. Diane von Furstenberg (pictured), Proenza Schouler and DKNY all worked this trend.
Go shop DVF, 11 Rue du Grand Cerf, Brussels, tel: www.dvf.com
Fashion takes on a seriously Scottish tone this season with the use of tartan. From checked dresses to mini-kilts, designers such as Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood are playing with the tartan trend. Hot British label Preen works it with beautiful shearling jackets and lumberjack shirts.

Hippy Summer’s folk/hippy look carries on into the winter with beautiful gypsy dresses, coin belts and patterned tops appearing at See by Chloé, Gucci and Armani.
DKNY also picks up on the trend with gorgeous paisley print dresses teamed with tights.

Go shop Alexander McQueen, 8 Via Verri, Milan, Italy, tel. www.alexandermcqueen.com
Gwyneth Paltrow showcased a range of Balmain’s one-shouldered dresses on the red carpet over the summer. The dresses from the hip French design house’s current collection are short, tight and perfect for glammed-up Christmas parties.
