Venet in Context
TOULOUSE
Based on the private collection of French sculptor Bernar Venet, this exhibition contains works by 50 major 20th-century artists. As well as exploring a range of genres from new realism to minimalism, the show examines Venet’s friendships with many of the artists. www.lesabattoirs.org
La Regata della Befana
VENICE
This event sees men over the age of 50 – who should perhaps know better – dress up as witches and race along the Grand Canal towards the Rialto Bridge to celebrate the Epiphany. ‘La Befana’ also sweeps in on her broomstick on the night of 5 January to deliver toys and sweets – naughty children can expect only lumps of coal.
