■ Frédéric Fekkai Classic Brush 1 (€82,50, www.fredericfekkai.com) Brushing stimulates blood flow to the scalp, leaving locks strong and lustrous. Frédéric Fekkai’s is made with natural boar bristles, and won’t tear hair.
■ Tweezerman Slant Tweezer 2 (€20, www.tweezerman.com) As far as brows are concerned this season, big is beautiful, but they still need to be groomed. Tweezerman’s hand-filed tweezers are the most precise.
■ Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers 3 (€26,50, www.shuuemura.com) A good pair of eyelash curlers will open eyes up far more effectively than a coat of mascara. Shu Uemura’s are the best – accept no substitutes.
■ T3 Tourmaline Evolution Hairdryer 4 (€247, www.t3tourmaline.com) Blow-drying can play havoc with the healthiest of hair. Investing in a high-speed hairdryer like T3’s will pay dividends – infused with tourmaline, it protects hair as it dries.
■ Daniel Hersheson Waving Tongs 5 (€101, www.danielhersheson.com) Bin your straighteners in favour of Daniel Hersheson’s big-barrelled waving tongs to create large, loose curls that are more beach babe than bubble perm.
■ Laura Mercier Velour Puff 6 (€15, www.lauramercier.com) Autumn’s ladylike catwalk looks herald a return to proper make-up. A soft, moulded puff will distribute powder evenly without dragging delicate skin, leaving you with a perfect, matt finish.

Sleek packaging? Check. Organic ingredients? Check. Nude skincare has finally hit the shelves
Nude (www.nudeskincare.com), the much-awaited skincare line from the man who launched Fresh & Wild, is very, very good — naturally. What’s more, it’s available at London’s hottest new store, Whole Foods Market (63-97 Kensington High Street, tel. +44
(0)20 73684500, www.wholefoodsmarket.com ). The American chain opened to a star-studded launch last month, and sells the highest quality products available — organic and local wherever possible, and always natural and free from artificial additives.

Picking up where Tae Bo left off, Forza is the latest fitness fad that fuses elements of martial arts with a high-impact cardiovascular workout. It’s much more fun, though, largely due to the fact that you get to make like Uma Thurman and wield a samurai sword throughout. The brainchild of Italian martial artist Ilaria Montagnani, Forza is based on two Japanese swordfighting techniques, Kendo and Aikijujitsu, and is pretty hard work. But it’s also effective – lugging a 500g sword round for an hour will leave you with sculpted arms, hips and thighs quicker than you can say “Kill Bill”.
