POPP’Nau
ACROSS EUROPE
If you think Australian imports don’t get much more exciting than Fosters and Koala bears, then you haven’t heard about P’Nau, the duo that every label in the universe is trying to sign right now. After Elton John opened his address book for the pair, they signed with his management company and are now a firmly planted European act. Following the release of their debut UK album, listen up for the 2010 Cirque Du Soleil world tour, which P’Nau is writing the soundtrack for. 2010 will be the sound of P’Nau! www.pnau.tv

Tim Rushton is the dynamic artistic director of Danish Dance Theatre, who since his appointment in 2001 has taken the company across Europe and the United States. Just about every show Rushton choreographs gets nominated for an award. Catch his latest hit ‘Enigma’ at theDANSEhallern (11-13 February), which is presented in a doublebill called Spring Dance – the second dance is ‘Like a Star’, a new work by Israeli choreographer, Adi Salant. www.dansehallerne.dk
CLASSICALAnja Kampe
VIENNA
Although it has only been going for a few years the Grafenegg International Music Festival (19 August – 12 September), held at Schloss Grafenegg near Vienna, has already established itself as a major international festival for classical music. German soprano Anja Kampe (who is already garnering gushing reviews) will take to the stage as will prominent young Chinese pianist, Lang Lang, who will join the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra for the closing concert. www.grafenegg.com
Caravaggio

Although the great Lombard painter, Caravaggio, is no newbie to the art scene, the Scuderie del Quirinale’s unprecedented exhibition of his work (18 February – 13 June) offers an innovative perspective on the artist’s works. The brilliantly curated exhibition is a collaboration of some of Carvaggio’s great masterpieces displayed alongside new research findings, which invite you to rethink the artistic painter’s essence. www.scuderiequirinale.it
Rock in Rio

The Portuguese capital will be rocking its socks off during May and June when the ‘Rock in Rio’ festival returns to the Bela Vista Park. Since her big break playing Kitty Bennett in Pride and Prejudice, this young actress has never looked back. Now dating fellow up-and-coming actor Shia LaBeouf, Mulligan stars opposite Emma Thompson in An Education, and alongside Michael Douglas in the much anticipated sequel to Wall Street, due for release in April. Pirouette your way into the Russian capital for this brilliant dance extravaganza, which brings together different classic and modern ballet ensembles and takes place at the Natalia Satz theatre (25 June – 25 September). Bouncing in from the streets of Newcastle and Manchester, bubbly Brit-pop duo Mini Viva are ready to take the pop world by storm. Robert Fry
LONDON
The world certainly isn’t short of aspiring artists, but one exciting young talent rising up through the ranks is London painter Robert Fry, who has just returned from a solo show in Moscow. His figurative mixed media paintings (produced mainly in acrylic and oil) based along themes of sexuality and the relationship between artist and subject, are already included in several private European collections. BARCELONA/LONDON
Born in Olot, Spain, Daniel studied fine arts and photography at the University of Barcelona and cinema at the Escola De Mitjans Audiovisuals. In 2007 he curated the exhibition “Amateur” at the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc in Barcelona. This is the man to watch in fashion photography right now contributing to style bibles Fantastic Man, Monocle and Hercules, among others. Classique Célébrez le 200ème anniversaire de la naissance de Chopin avec la représentation de Katia Pellegrino, Norma, à l’Opéra de Varsovie (6 août). La célèbre soprano, Anja Kampe, sera l’une des artistes à tenir à l’œil durant le Festival International de Musique de Vienne Grafenegg (19 août – 21 septembre), tandis que l’opéra d’Oslo, cet ‘iceberg flottant’ accueillera la première mondiale de Autour du Monde en 80 jours (21 mai-19 juin).
Film Avec plusieurs films prévus à l’affiche en 2010, Carey Mulligan est l’actrice en vue. De son côté, la version revisitée de Tim Burton d’Alice au Pays des Merveilles sera sans aucun doute le film qui sera sur toutes les lèvres en 2010.
